For your wedding, party, barn dance, ceilidh or square dance.
We would love to play for your wedding reception, birthday party, anniversay party, celebration, barn dance, square dance, hoedown or ceilidh.
The band was formed in 2009 by experienced ceilidh band players from around Leicester.
Moggy in the Wood Ceilidh Band is based in Leicestershire in the East Midlands.
Moggy in the Wood offer a lively mixture of traditional English, Irish, Scottish and American dance music suitable for a barn dance or celidh, played on fiddle and mandola or mandolin backed up by guitar and bodhran played by our usual caller.
For an American square dance we can augment the band to a 4 piece band plus caller with a fiddle, 5 string banjo, mandolin and guitar line up. Two members of our band are members of Friends of American Old Time Music and Dance.
We are also happy to play as a folk band or for Irish / Scottish evenings.
Moggy in the Wood is affiliated to the English Folk Dance and Song Society.
A barn dance, square dance or ceilidh is probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on. It is suitable for most ages and you get to dance with every man or woman in the room. You dance to jigs, reels, polkas, waltzes and hornpipes and the caller will organise the dancing so no experience is needed.
It is a fun and very social way to celebrate for your wedding reception, birthday party, etc and it is a good entertaining way to raise funds for your school, club or organisation.
